Salary: £14 per hour plus free camping pitch with electric hook up
Mendip is looking for a motivated, passionate and brilliant Camp Warden to take on a seasonal role at our award winning campsite, Basecamp, and help us on our mission, the Mendip Way.

Basecamp was originally set up in 2014 for school activity camps and every year hundreds of children come to visit for their school activity camp. In July 2020, Basecamp then opened to the public for the first time with families loving the location, the space & freedom and activities on the doorstep.
In 2023 Basecamp was recognised as the best campsite in Bristol, Bath & Somerset, and then came runner up in the South West of England Tourism awards. Following this success, Basecamp then won Silver for Campsite of the Year in the Visit England Tourism Awards in 2025.
Basecamp is open to the public from May Bank holiday and then every weekend and through the summer holidays.
The Role
Basecamp has a dedicated team who look after our onsite Pavilion shop, catering, bar and customer check-ins.
This means the Warden role primarily focuses on maintaining the campsite facilities, cleanliness, visitor relations and ensuring that camp rules are obeyed for the comfort of all guests.
The role will require great communication skills and close communication with our Pavilion Manager, campsite reception team, the facilities team and housekeeping team.
During the early season when Baseamp is closed to the public, the Warden will join the work of estate team helping to set up the camp facilities and ensuring the site is changed over and ready for both our school groups and the public.
Although this is a role for one person, there is opportunity for work as a couple with roles available in our housekeeping and pavilion teams throughout the summer.
Core Responsibilities Communicate and engage in conversation with our guests ensuring a comfortable stay

Noise and Behaviour

Fire Safety

Driving after dark

Campsite maintenance and light gardening including strimming, weeding & watering

On call support

Following up with guests if there have been any issues

Communicating with our Senior Team any issues and suggested improvements

Ensuring campsite facilities are clean and in good order

Facility changeovers on Fridays and Sundays

Other ad-hoc duties
About You
Your attitude and personality is paramount to us: we’re looking for someone who has a positive outlook, professionalism, promptness and who works well under pressure. You’ll possess strong communication skills, and excellent presentation skills and enjoy a varied and challenging role.

A number of years of experience in hospitality/leisure/campsites delivering a great customer experience.
