On Friday 19th and Saturday 20th September, we proudly brought our mobile Climbing Tower to the Women’s Rugby World Cup Fan Zone in Bristol. Across two buzzing days, hundreds of young people had the chance to try climbing for free and their determination was nothing short of inspiring.

Determination through Climbing

The tower stood tall at the heart of Bristol's Ampitheatre, offering girls and boys the chance to step outside their comfort zones and experience the thrill of climbing. Among those who gave it a go was a young girl from Ireland who faced down her fear of heights and conquered the wall before stepping onto the pitch as the ball carrier at Ashton Gate for Saturday’s semi-final between England and France. We also welcomed groups from across the globe including Germany, Spain, New Zealand and Canada, all united by the energy of the Rugby World Cup. The atmosphere throughout the weekend was electric. The resilience and spirit of everyone who clipped in mirrored the intensity on the pitch, where the Red Roses went on to defeat France in front of a sold-out stadium.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Mendip Adventure would like to thank Bristol BID and Visit Bristol for inviting us to be part of such a successful initiative. Events like these show the power of sport and adventure to bring communities together and inspire the next generation.

George Combe, Head of Marketing at Mendip Adventure, said: "Adventure is for everyone — and giving young people of all backgrounds the opportunity to try climbing at the Fan Zone was incredible. We’re proud to have played a part in the Rugby World Cup and can’t wait to welcome more people to experience adventure with us in the Mendip Hills as a result."
