We were delighted to welcome Tessa Munt, MP for Wells and the Mendip Hills, to Mendip Activity Centre, the flagship destination of Mendip Adventure, for a special visit to celebrate the value of outdoor learning and adventure and its impact on the local visitor economy.

Supporting Outdoor Learning
Tessa was greeted by Phil Turner, Head of Centre, who led her on a tour of the 250-acre site in the heart of the Mendip Hills National Landscape. Their visit included a stop at the Quarry View Point, where they met a volunteer from the Mendip Hills National Landscape team carrying out vital nature recovery work.
The visit was an opportunity to showcase how Mendip Adventure contributes to both the visitor economy and the education sector, inspiring thousands of young people each year through adventure, learning and training.

Speaking after the visit, Tessa Munt pledged her support for outdoor learning and the work taking place across Mendip:
"Thank you Mendip for the opportunity to see first-hand the impact of outdoor learning and adventure. There is no doubt that time spent in nature can be transformative—helping young people to grow in confidence, build resilience and develop a lifelong respect for the environment. I look forward to exploring how best I can support the work of the APPG for Outdoor Learning and to keeping in touch about its progress."
Phil Turner, Head of Centre, said:
“We’re proud to demonstrate the role outdoor education plays in shaping futures and boosting the local economy. It was a privilege to share our story with Tessa and we welcome her commitment to supporting outdoor learning.”
Mendip Adventure has grown from humble beginnings in 1987 to become one of the UK’s largest independently owned outdoor activity providers, with a mission to inspire everyone, everywhere, to make time for adventure.
